Elmar Fuchs

Elmar Fuchs is an automotive engineer with 33 years of experience in brake design and testing. He acquired his master’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1988 from Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany. After initial 7 years of brake caliper design in Frankfurt, he moved to Brazil assuming design responsibility for disc and drum brakes. 11 years later he came to the US and assumed the position of a Chief Engineer for Wheel brakes and later on as well for brake actuation.

His core competencies are profound knowledge of all design and test related aspects of brake calipers, drum brakes and electric parking brakes, and also the leadership of intercultural engineering organizations.

Dr Djamil B

Djamil Boulahbal has 30 years of experience in multiple NVH areas, for both On and Off-highway vehicles, with emphasis in the agriculture and construction machinery.

Broad experience in Design for NVH, balancing NVH and durability targets, and optimizing whole vehicle systems for multiple performance targets. Extensive use of hybrid Test/Simulation approaches to quickly resolve most present NVH issues.

Djamil has PhD and MS degrees in NVH from MIT, with emphasis in Vibration, Acoustics.

Johann Pankau

NVH Consulting, LLC
Founder and Chief Technical Officer

35 Years of Unique Worldwide Automotive Engineering Expertise.

Throughout his professional carrier Johann gained unparalleled expertise in automotive R&D, particularly in vehicle chassis, tires and brakes. In addition, deep knowledge of vehicle NVH, ride and comfort and computations methods.

Up to the end of 2024 Johann Pankau was leading Tire NVH activities at Continental Tire NA, responsible for tire NVH and Ride & Comfort, simulation, vehicle interaction and optimization.

In 2025 Johann started NVH Consulting LLC operation, which is targeting automotive operations but also other industries as aerospace, consumer electronic.

Johann earned master’s degree in applied mechanics from Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany in 1990.

He started his professional carrier, right after graduation, at ITT Teves in Germany. In the first years he was responsible for brake rotor development, brake NVH and brake Finite Element computation. In 1998 he moved to the company operation in North America to lead brake simulations and NVH activities. From 2000 he was building a state-of-the-art NVH laboratory under Continental Teves serving all company businesses units. In 2004 he successfully transformed department to profit center operation, serving internal and external customers. From 2012 to 2024 focused on tire R&D leading tire NVH and Ride & Comfort activities in Amerces. Beyond industry career he is contributing to the education of the future engineers, teaching Vehicle Dynamics course at Oakland University in Michigan for last 15 Years.
